A plan to build a shopping centre with a supermarket and 7 speciality outlets within the Shire of Denmark has opened for public remark.
Earmarked for the empty website at 82-90 South Coast Highway, reverse the customer centre, the centre building would span 3058sqm and offer a 130-bay carpark.
It would create an further 62 full-time jobs.
The development software, put ahead by Dunsborough-based firm LB Planning, is a redo of the proposal authorized by Great Southern Joint Development Assessment Panel in 2014 and the shire in 2017, after the unique approval lapsed in 2019.
The commercially zoned lot is bounded by Hardy Street and the Amaroo Retirement Village.
The city is serviced by the IGA Fine Food Market and smaller IGA Local Grocer, although many residents journey to Albany for the broader selection of supermarkets.
The software report states that the centre would economically benefit different retailers in Denmark Town Centre.
“It will reduce/retain up to 155 person trips per day (57,000 person trips p.a.) to Albany which will instead now shop in the Denmark Town Centre, creating greater vibrancy and vitality for the Denmark Town Centre,” it reads.
“It represents an financial and social gain to the Denmark group by offering better selection and handy entry to a wider vary of items and providers that some residents at present contemplate obligatory to journey to Albany to entry.“
