New grant program to address gender-based violence | Australian Markets

The Minns Labor Government is continuous work to construct a safer New South Wales by addressing home and household violence from all angles, together with major prevention – to stop the violence earlier than it begins.

This yr, the federal government is committing $100,000 to a new grant program for the 16 Days of Activism to assist initiatives that stop gender-based violence in our communities.

It is a component of the Minns Government’s wider effort to work in partnership with native organisations on major prevention to address the drivers of gender-based violence, to change the attitudes and cultures that tolerate or condone the use of violence in opposition to girls.

The goal of the 16 Days of Activism Grant Program is to assist actions with a major prevention focus undertaken during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence marketing campaign period (25 November to 10 December).

Grants will probably be awarded for awareness-raising and initiatives that have interaction native communities to address the 4 key drivers of gendered violence recognized within the NSW Government’s Pathways to Prevention strategy.

Local Domestic and Family Violence Committees and Networks will probably be eligible to apply for funding of between $2,500 and $5,000 per initiative.

The authorities has invested $38 million to implement the strategy which incorporates a multi-year major prevention grants program, the Multisport Coalition for the Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence and partnering with Local Government NSW to assist native communities of their prevention initiatives. It is a component of the federal government’s whole-of-community response to home, household and sexual violence.

Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Jodie Harrison mentioned:

“Primary prevention is a key half of the NSW Government’s work to address home and household violence, by stopping violence earlier than it begins.

“Through this new grant program, we would like to encourage native organisations and communities come up with new concepts and initiatives to disrupt the drivers of gendered violence, promote healthy relationships and take motion for gender equality.

“We know that local solutions are needed to change the harmful attitudes and behaviours that can contribute to a culture that tolerates violence against women.”
