Listeners are switching off two of Perth’s hottest FM radio stations, led by a breakfast tune-out as a new duo eye the highest spot within the morning.

Nova FM and 96FM each recorded drops of their viewers share of more than 2 per cent, within the latest radio rankings out on Tuesday.

The greatest change from the latest GFK rankings report — masking the period from April to July — was Nova’s breakfast trio Nathan Morris, Nat Locke and Shaun McManus’ 4 per cent drop in viewers to fifteen.5 per cent.

The FM station recorded drops throughout all its daytime programming, as did 96FM, which nonetheless held its rank as Perth’s most listened to radio station.

Nova, nevertheless, misplaced its spot in second, dethroned by Mix 94.5, which rose to an viewers share of 12.8 per cent.

Triple M Breakfast duo Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb climbed by 3.4 per cent to clinch the second spot on the important thing early morning time slot — the best stage recorded by the station.

Morris revealed close to the start of this rankings cycle the explanations for a protracted absence from the airwaves in May after three month off, explaining he had been coping with some “legal issues”.

“Something happened in my personal life that was one of these monumental things that happens that you can’t really process,” he mentioned.

Over on the AM band, ABC radio remained regular, with small drops in viewers share after growing most of this yr.

Breakfast host Mark Gibson dropped 0.2 per cent, whereas Afternoons’ Jo Trilling noticed her viewers fall to three.6 per cent, the bottom level to date this yr.
