WASTE LEVY WAIVED FOR NSW AREAS HIT BY MID NORTH | Australian Markets

The Minns Labor Government has waived the waste levy for 17 Local Government Areas impacted by flooding within the Mid North Coast and Hunter area.

Residents within the areas hit hardest by the storm can dispose of flood-affected objects at landfill websites with out having to pay the waste levy charge for the subsequent three months.

Storm generated waste contains broken building supplies, furnishings, carpet, garden particles and different objects. It doesn’t cowl waste generated by property restore or pre-existing supplies.

Landfill operators should charge their own landfill operation charge, also referred to as the gate charge or tip charge, to handle waste. Residents must also contact their native council earlier than visiting their native tip to make sure it’s nonetheless in a position to settle for waste.

The EPA will proceed to monitor the need for new exemptions as required.
